There can be upwards of 50 shipments on a single truck so that is why it is important that the shipment be pre-cleared.  Every transport company has their own bar coded stickers they put on the customs paperwork and fax to the customs broker when they pick up the shipment from the shipper.  The customs broker than processes the shipment through to Canada Customs.  When the truck reaches the border the driver shows the customs officer the bar code which the officer scans.  The officer will see on his/her entry system that Bay City Brokers Ltd. has accounted for all duties and taxes and proper procedure has been followed.  After reviewing the entry the officer will in most cases allow the goods to enter Canada for delivery
